Scruples
Scruples offers everthing
that you could want in a traditional Coffee House. Toasted teacakes, home-made
scones and doughnuts compete on the menu with freshly baked croissants and
Danish pastries. Coffee can be filter ,expresso, cappuccino or any combination
of how YOU like it. Bruno can be guarranteed to produce a coffee to suit
every taste. Tea comes in many varieties including herbal, but the one thing
that everyone comes in for on a cold morning is a 'special hot chocolate'
a steaming mug of chocolate, topped with whipped cream, sprinkled with chocolate
strands and served with a Cadbury's Flake and Piroline biscuit. Guarranteed
to give you a warm glow for the rest of the day.'
Lunchtime you will find traditional, vegetarian and continental food happily
being served side by side. Everything is produced daily, on the premises,
so if anything 'runs out' it's just because everone else in front of you
fancied the same thing on that particular day! Pam & Bruno's philosophy
is that it is better to run out sometimes, that way people know that what
is being served is fresh. If everything is 'always available' it usually
means it's coming out of a freezer!! Scruples enjoys being 'part of the
community'.
Depending on the time of day and day of the week, you will often find different
groups of people meeting at Scruples. Early mornings it is the Mums who
come in for some peace and quiet after they've dropped the kids off at school.
Lunchtime brings in the local shop and office workers. Market day brings
the villagers from the surrounding areas, who can only come in on market
day as there is no bus the rest of the week. Late afternoon the clientele
becomes younger as the pupils from the local schools congregate.
Looking round the Coffee House you will find all the signs of a shop very
much involved in the community. A large notice board holds posters for every
conceivable type of event, local charities know that support will always
be available. The walls of the Coffee House are beautifully decorated with
the work of local artists, most of which is for sale. Occassionaly you will
find a special exhibition of the work of just one artist. |
