Handkerchief or Lavender Bag Edging

A narrow Torchon edging which is suitable for a handkerchief or a lavender bag.

The diagram shows one method of working this pattern. Try changing the stitches, perhaps working triangle ground instead of roseground, you will only need three pinholes for triangle ground, leaving out either the left or right pinhole of the block of four from the roseground. Another variation could be working a cloth stitch or half stitch trail instead of the honeycomb ignoring the inner pinholes for the honeycomb stitches. Spiders can be worked in half stitch instead of cloth stitch or for the more adventurous star ground.

Enlarging and shrinking patterns

The pattern can be made bigger or smaller to work it in finer or thicker threads.

The pattern has a footside spacing of 3mm. Photocopying the pattern at the following percentages will give these distances between the footside pins.

67% = 2mm spacing
83% = 2.5mm "
94% = 2.8mm "
117% = 3.5mm "
134% = 4mm "
