Poole Bobbin Lace Cirlce

Garrucha, October 2004

Lace Day in Garrucha was a lovely day. Not a huge gathering as Garrucha only has 15 ladies, the numbers were swelled by about 40 ladies from the Almeria group. The day was held under a huge gazebo set up outside the Town Hall. Breakfast in the local bar was had in 'relays'. Lace was made, admired and lots of general chat followed until 2pm.

Lunch was then served, crisps, olives and a freshley made ham and tomato baguette - all washed down with a beer or soft drink. You can see Thelma's preference!!!! The pillows then came out again 'til 4.30pm went our entertainment arrived. A local group of mandolin players was sung and played for us. They had the Spainsh ladies joining in traditional songs and then the dancing started. All this in the street in the middle of the afternoon!!!! A wonderful time was had by all
