Blandford - Past and Present

Blandford Forum (as the notices on the approach roads tell you) is an Interesting Georgian Town. The town was almost totally destroyed in the fire of 1731 and was rebuilt by the Bastard Brothers in the ensuing years. The Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul is one of the finest of the period. Walk round Blandford looking 'up' rather than 'down' and you will find a wealth of Georgian architecture. Many of the 'modern' shop fronts lurk beneath original Georgian facades.

Shoppers in Blandford will be delighted by the wealth of 'independent' shops to be found. Small specialist shops, where every customer is important, abound in the town. Here is a place where there are few 'chains' and 'multinationals', but lots of 'independents' who care. If you are looking for an original gift or just a piece of specialist kitchenware, you can be sure that someone in the town can provide it!

Antique collectors and book enthusiasts will not be disappointed with the abundance of shops in town and when you have finished traipsing round the shops you'll find a large variety of 'watering holes' to revive your spirits.

If you're away from home and need to send an e-mail, then the Cyberlink Cafe situated above Scruples Coffee House in Barnack Walk is the place for you!

Serving the best cappuccino in town, a large variety of home-made cakes, vegetarian meals and snacks, you will be assured of a warm welcome.
